SQL Report Formats

Overview

Here's some points to keep in mind regarding report formats:

  • a report is initially displayed in the html format.
  • can export from html format to excel (or) PDF format.
  • a style applied to the html report is exported to the excel and PDF formats.
  • a custom sort applied to the html report is NOT exported to the excel or PDF formats.

HTML Format

Here's some points regarding the html format:

  • can export to the excel and PDF formats using the html report toolbar.
  • can apply a custom sort to reports which display “sort controls” in the column headers.
  • can toggle sort order from (ASC/DESC) to (DESC/ASC) by clicking on a sort control.
  • a style applied to an html report is exported; however, custom sort is not exported.
  • can expand from "summary view" to "detail view" by clicking on fields with plus sign (+).
  • can set "Open All" on the toolbar to YES to exand all sections in the report.
  • if "Open All" is set to NO, then sections will collapse when clicking on a sort control.

PDF Format

Here's some points regarding the PDF format:

  • can view report in PDF format (in browser) using “Preview” button on toolbar.
  • can export html report to PDF format, so that you can save it to your hard drive.
  • a style applied to an html report is exported; however, custom sort is not exported.
  • sections are expanded by default; cannot expand or collapse sections in PDF format.
  • report header is fixed, so it is always displayed when you scroll through the rows.

EXCEL Format

Here's some points regarding the excel format:

  • can export html report to excel format, so that you can save it to your hard drive.
  • a style applied to an html report is exported; however, custom sort is not exported.
  • any expanded sections in html report will remain expanded when exported to excel.
  • can expand from "summary view" to "detail view" by clicking on fields with plus sign (+).
